About Miss Smith
Hello everyone,
Welcome to Kindergarten! I have been a teacher here at TWCA for 3 years. I absolutely love teaching Kindergarten and especially enjoy teaching young children to read and the Word of God. It is my desire that through me, God would speak into the lives of each student and draw them closer to Him. Each day is something new and exciting in the world of 5 and 6 year olds and I never tire of seeing faces light up with joy as they discover more about God's creation.
I am a graduate of Sam Houston State University with a degree in Elementary Education and am certified to teach EC-4 by the state of Texas. I have been a seminary student for the past 3 years but am now pursuing my masters degree in Reading at Sam Houston State.
I live in The Woodlands and attend Woodsedge Community Church. I am involved in children's and youth ministry during the week and on weekends. In my past life I have worked in the Christian camping ministry and as a children's director at The Woodlands United Methodist Church. One of my deepest passions is being involved in missions to Africa and I typically spend my summers teaching and serving in Rwanda.
I look forward to a wonderful school year at TWCA and to what God has in store for each of our students!
Many Blessings,
Melissa Smith
